Knock, knock, some guets are coming to us.

Two days ago we met for a first time with two archaeologists from the museum of Sibenik. They came to visit us and to tell some more information about the local archaeological heritage and we finaly received a short scientific lecture about Colentum, which hopefully we can use in our future projects and especially in the writing of the Management Plan of Colentum.

The Cosy Corner is here!

Nobody likes an office athmosphere that makes you think only of the connection between your humped back and dusty computer. Creativity needs colours, softness and a cosy space. We need it more than everything so we did our best to create these circumstances: found the most reddish couch in the whole Dalmatia, cleaned it so it is shinier than a summer smile and reorganised the space a bit and now we can use as well the old aquarium.

P.S. Some pillows and benches are joining Argonauta’s cosy corner soon. :)

Meeting the other volunteers in Croatia.

Far away from the chilling coast of Dalmatia, among the infinite meadows of Slavonia in a small town, called Orahovica was held our on-arrival trainig for EVS volunteers. We had the chance to learn a lot about the European Voluntary Service Program from two highy qualified trainers-Daniela and Suncana, who not only explained us how the program works, but also revealed different asspects of the non-formal education’s values and gave us ideas and useful contacts to implement during our voluntary period. The best thing on this type of meetings is that you are gathering together with all the others making EVS in Croatia at the same time volunteers and have a chance to share ideas and experience. Beleive me, you will meet at least one person with whom you can come up with a common idea for a project. You have to be always brave enough to dream and to see your dreams implemented in the reality and when you have another dreamer next to you a much bigger chance occures to see your plans not only in your imagination. :) Dare to dream, dream bravely and constantly.

Supporting our friends

Last Saturday we were invited by our friends from the NGO “Modrave-Betina-Murter” to join in the construction of a touristic info-point, which is located really close to Vransko jezero. Actually this is their first project so they needed help not only from other NGO friends, but also from the local community. We were very happy to see that people from Modrava, Betina and Murter were really supportive and creative during the building of the info-centre. A curious and important fact is that the walls as well as the other constructions are made in the dry-stone technique, a traditional Dalmatian method for building and constructing. After the hard-working day we had this not less typical than the dry-stone technique dalamatian lunch-pastasuta. ^^ We hope that in the summer this place will be full with happy faces willing to know more about Dalmatian culture and why not to try a hot plate of pastasuta. :)

Let’s say hi again-from left to the right Anastasia from Greece, Mathilde from France, Me, Myself and I-Galia from Bulgaria, Yordanka from Bulgaria and Dominika from Poland. We are making a three-months EVS in Murter island. This is our very, very first visiting of Colentum with a lot more to come. Firstly we expected to see just few stones, but then came the surprise: we were not just absolutely astonished by Gradina hill’s views, but also we got this inspiration that we are going to need for our future Colentum Management Plan. Roman remains, lapped by the pure blue waves of Adriatic sea… this place should be visited and loved by everyone. More little secrets from our experience to come soon :)

Bok, bok! Here we are-Alessandro from Italy, Anastasia from Greece, Daniel from Spain, Galia from Bulgaria and Mathilde from France. Our project “Ancient Europe 2” started one week ago and since then Murter became our new home and it will stay like this at least for the next three months. Our 3-months EVS project is directed to the managament and socialization of the local archaeological site Colentum. It is very exciting because not only that we have to prepare some official dociments like the Managaement Plan of Colentum, but also we are going to work on the creation of different workshops for the local community. Interesting fact is that two of us-Dani and Galia have graduated form Archaeology so they will have to do some scientific activities like archaeological recognition, taking points for a GIS (geographical informational system) documentaion and so on. Mathilde, Alessandro and Anastasia are specialized in Communication and International Relations so they are going to be strongly involved in the creation of the Managaement Plan. All these activities will help to our host organisation Argonauta to get funding from the European Comission for building an Archaeological Recreational Park on the Gradina Hill, the location of Colentum. Cross fingers for us! Hohoho.

Goodbye Argonauta team, goodbye Murter, goodbye Croatia, goodbye Colentum, goodbye our friends… ;(

After presentation in the Municipality we brought our 3D model to the open stand in centre of Murter and we were answering questions to people who were interested about the Colentum. Archaeologists Zeljko Krncevic and Toni Brajkovic from the Sibenik City Museum helped us a lot. 3D model has shown very effective in explaining our ideas. This was occasion for telling the local youngsters about the EVS too.

Yeah! We succeeded! Presentation of our proposal of the Management plan of the archaeological site Colentum in front of community’s decision makers in the Municipality Murter-Kornati was the crown our project. We are glad that we made good impression and have inspired them with many amazing ideas… We wish them good luck in their future effort of tourist valorisation of the Colentum!!

The task of our Super Mario (volunteer from Spain) was to create Android App which could help to tourist to find perfect tracks around Gradina hill and lead them directly to the most interesting archaeological locations.
