The “Back to ancient Europe” EVS project aims at promoting Archaeological site Colentum as valuable part of Europe’s cultural heritage. Project will take place in Murter (Murter Island, Croatia) during three months period. The objective of the project is to improve knowledge and raise awareness about values of cultural/archeological heritage as common European value and its potential in terms of sustainable development of rural communities. The five young participants from Spain, Italy, France, Greece and Bulgaria will assist to our organization by being our young assistants in researching about efficient conservation and valorization best practices of similar cultural heritage in their countris, contributing therefore in making Strategic Action Plan for conservation and valorization of Colentum. They will assist to researchers in an Archeological Research (run by scientist from Archeological Department – University of Zadar and Museum Šibenik) as well and have the chance to introduce themselves to archaeological field research techniques. They will organize an Info-day to get local/regional community and visitors aware of a values and potentials of a cultural/archaeological value. Volunteers will benefit from the project in personal, professional, and social development; partner organizations (sending and hosting) will establish strong relations in civil sectors between European countries.
By project activities we want to present a contribution of young people participation in sustainable development, to motivate local/regional young people for active participation in order to ensure them working place in their community based on a local resources which are still not valorised contributing therefor to economic development of the community. We also want to present EVS and Youth in Action programme as an efficient tool for an conservation of European common interest such cultural heritage is.
